What is Thermowell? Thermowell Types & Application

A thermowell is a protection for the temperature sensors in the form of cylindrical shaped pressure-tight fittings. It is used to protect the temperature sensors which are inserted into vessels and pipes for being used in different industrial applications. It is used to create a barrier between the process media and sensing element as the process media can be corrosive and can negatively impact the sensing element. Moreover, it protects the sensing elements from fluid velocity and pressure. Thermowell Types: 1. Threaded Thermowell They are usually used in smaller pipes where the temperature of the non-corrosive fluid is measured. Threaded thermowell is screwed in the pipe for use and generally does not require replacements. 2. Flanges Weld Thermowell As the name suggests, flanged thermowell is flanged at the top end. It is connected to the pipe using nuts and bolts. It is mostly used in applications that require frequent replacements and involve high temperatures. 3. Socket Weld...

Advantages & Types of Diaphragm Seal

What is Diaphragm Seal? Diaphragm seal system consists of a Pressure Instruments, Fill fluid and Diaphragm seal direct mounting type or capillary type. In process a flexible diaphragm and filling fluid separate the pressure instruments from process media, temperature or service. When process pressure acts on diaphragm, diaphragm displacement transfers the measured pressure through the filled system. This transferred pressure displaces the pressure sensing element of Pressure Instruments. Diaphragm seal is used to seal and safeguard instrument from the process medium. The flexibility of the seal is as such that, the diaphragm, seals the contents safely at the same time permeating the instrument to measure the pressure accurately. Diaphragms seals are in general used with other devices and instruments including  pressure gauges , transmitters and switches. This combination can be used in extreme and harsh environmental conditions. The fact that they can isolate instruments fro...

How to Choose the Right Digital Pressure Gauge

A digital pressure gauge is an instrument used to measure the pressure of liquids and gases and then digitally display it. The transducer installed in the gauge converts the obtained pressure value into a digital reading. Pressure gauges find extensive application in industrial and automaton industries. Their application is gaining traction in new areas of healthcare and energy production. The display may be backlit and include various pressure related data collection and display functions, including data logging, min/max display, peak alarms, unit’s selection, tare function and more. Pressure gauge manufactures   are incorporating new and advanced technologies to gain a market edge. With the market brimming with a variety of pressure gauges, selecting any one gauge is very difficult. When the gauge is to be used in a hazardous environment, intrinsically safe certifications are available. We are laying out a list of steps that can help you in selecting the best digital pres...

What Are The Types of Pressure Gauges?

Types of Pressure Gauges  According to Usage 1. Commercial and Industrial Pressure Gauges  – Commercial gauges are general purpose pressure measuring instruments commonly used in Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Refrigeration. Industrial pressure gauge is suitable for production processes that would not block the pressure system. Industrial gauges are used in manufacturing industries, OEM applications, hydraulic, water treatment and RO industries. 2. Process Pressure Gauges  – In industries where the production process functions under extreme conditions, subjected to vibrations, pressure spikes and a corrosive environment (like in certain areas of petrochemical and other chemical industries), a process pressure gauge can be safely used. 3. Low Pressure Gauges  – These are suitable for measurement of liquid and gaseous pressure, provided they don’t obstruct its functioning. Plants construction processes, pneumatic systems and cleanrooms often nee...
